Wood Waste Biomass Plant to Generate Electricity in Sri Lanka
Sri Lanka has no oil or natural gas reserves. Forest products and agricultural residues are of central importance to Sri Lanka's overall energy supply. Estimates suggest that biomass use accounts for about 55% of total energy consumption, and 49% comes from woodfuels. Biomass fuels are consumed mostly households, but also by industry. We are a wood product manufacturing firm in Sri Lanka and exporter of wooden base brooms and brushes to international market. As a result a lot of wood offcuts and wood shavings gathered within the premises and now we wanted to invest in a Biomass power plant to generate electricity. As at present we are focusing in installing a 1 MWH power plant. Following are the monthly generation of wood offcuts and saw dusts ( wood shavings ) at our factory. Further we will be able to source more from outside if this quantity is not adequate to generate our target electricity generation of 1 MWH.

How big is the biomass fired boiler for 1MW power plant?
According to the information provided by the ZBG boiler manufacturer, a 6-ton biomass boiler is required to generate 1MW of electricity. A 6-ton biomass steam boiler for power generation is recommended.
ZBG provides three types of biomass power plant boiler: ZG Series Biomass Chain Grate Boiler for Power Plant, ZG Series Biomass Corner Tube Boiler for Power Plant and ZG Series Biomass CFB Boiler for Power Plant. The biomass power plant boilers burn rice husk, straw and other biomass fuels to generate steam and heat to meet different heat supply and electricity requirement.
Features:
Biomass power plant boiler (chain grate type): equipped with blast blower and induced draft fan for mechanical ventilation, screw slag remover for mechanical extraction sediment, it is a high efficiency, energy saving and environmental boiler.
Biomass power plant boiler (corner tube type): the body adopts corner tube, self-supporting structure, simple but reliable. Fuel is spaying into the furnace, mixture combustion of “layer combustion and suspension combustion”, high combustion efficiency.
Biomass power plant boiler (CFB type): solving the slagging and scaling problems during biomass firing and heat exchanging, to realize long term stable operation. Low carbon content in the slag can achieve comprehensive utilization of the fly ash.
