Coke dry quenching boiler in iron and steel sector
In comparison to all the available technologies in the iron and steel sector, coke dry quenching process can generate substantial savings. Coke dry quenching appears as the most valid system to reduce air pollution allowing at the same time a remarkable energy recovery or saving. The coke dry quenching equipment broadly consists of a coke cooling tower (pre-chamber and cooling chamber) and a waste heat recovery boiler.
CDQ/ coke dry quenching waste heat recovery boiler
CDQ waste heat boiler is a main energy-saving equipment in coke dry quenching process, to cool the cycled gas and generate steam. Dry quenching is a kind of technology, which cools coke by using inert gas, transferring heated inert gas to boiler, then into CDQ boiler by circulation fan for recycling use. The new type waste heat recovery boiler developed by our company has great advantages, it effectively solves problems like boiler sealing, abrasion and expansion, and it can totally adapt to the changes of dry quenching system load.
Coke dry quenching equipment work process
Coke dry quenching equipment is mainly made up of a coke cooling tower and a waste heat recovery boiler. The entire process has as follows: Red-hot coke (approx. 1,200°C) is charged into the coke cooling tower, and inert gas is blown into the tower from the bottom. Heat exchange is performed with the circulating inert gas. After the gas is heated to high temperature (approx. 800°C), it circulates through the heating tubes of the waste heat boiler, converting the water in the boiler into steam. The temperature of the coke at the cooling tower outlet is reduced to approximately 200°C.
During this process, the heated coke passes the middle part of a chamber wherein a flow of a gas-steam mixture heated to a temperature of up to 700° C. is introduced in countercurrent relation to the flow of coke. Resulting from the process of conversion of hydrocarbons with water vapor is gas containing hydrogen and carbon monoxide. The blast-furnace coke with a temperature of not lower than 700° C. is passed from a middle part of the chamber to a lower part thereof wherein it is cooled to a temperature of 200° to 250° C. with a flow of circulating inert gas.
In iron and steel industry, a waste heat boiler is available for energy saving and environmental friendliness. Recovered heat by CDQ is used to generate steam or electric power, which leads to a reduction of fossil fuel usage at power plant. Thus, you can reduce CO2 emissions in total.
