Fuel Requirement Of Biomass Fired Boiler
As an energy saving and environmental friendly products, biomass fuel boilers are widely used in industries to provide large quantity of steam or hot water. Divided by different combustion style, the boilers includes biomass fuel traveling grate boiler and biomass fuel circulating fluidized bed boiler. During the operation process, one important factor that affect the efficiency and cost of boiler is the feature of biomass fuel.
Water content of fuel
Water content of biomass fuel is differ from each other. More or less water content will affect the efficiency of boiler. When burning biomass fuel within more water, the fuel will cost more time for being burnt. For biomass fired cfb boiler, with high speed circulating speed in furnace, the resident time is short, which will lead to low combustion efficiency and large cost. For biomass fuel traveling grate boiler, the higher temperature of upper side of furnace will cause a failure in boiler. Besides, the more smoke with high temperature will takes heat energy away.
Dust content of fuel
A large quantity of bed material is required in circular system for cfb boielr. The dust content of biomass fuel is vital for operation of cfb boiler. The general content of dust in biomass fuel is 3%~10%. When burning fuels with lower dust content such as timber or wood pellet, we should add some bed material to ensure the temperature of furnace and combustion efficiency. But when the dust content of fuel is higher, we should discharge some bottom slag to keep a suitable bed height.
