How To Install Pressure Meters On Steam Boilers Correctly
Steam boilers are generally operating under high temperature, and incorrect operation will lead to an accident, which take a lost for enterprise and affect the safety of people. So we should pay a close attention to the change of pressure and water level when operating a steam boiler. What’s more, lower or higher pressure will also affect the quality of steam generated. So installing a good quality pressure meter correctly is necessary. The design and installation of pressure meters is according to follow aspects
Position of pressure meters
Every set of boiler should be installed with pressure meters that combines with steam inside boiler directly. They are usually installed before feed water adjust valve, separable economizer outlet, between super-heater outlet and the main steam valve. Where the pressures are installed should be easy for operator to observe and inspect. Radiant heat, cold and vibration of pressure meter should be avoided. For large scale cfb boiler, more meters are needed to ensure the normal operation of it.
Protection measures for meters
On boiler or pressure vessel whose working medium is high-temperature steam, a bending pipe with water inside should be equipped on the pressure gauge. In which way, the steam will condenses in this bending pipe, and high-temperature steam will not directly into the spring tube pressure gauge, so that an inner element overheating and distortion and the accuracy of the pressure meter could be avoided. A pressure vessel containing high temperature, highly corrosive or high viscosity of medium, an isolation device filled with liquid should be installed on the pipeline between the pressure meter and vessel. An anti-corrosion corrugated flat membrane pressure gauges is also available.
We can draw a red alert line on the pressure meter dial according to the maximum allowable steam pressure of boiler or pressure vessel. But it should not be painted the meter glass, in case of the glass rotary to produce the illusion and causing an accident.
